Art research
S4 were continuing with their Schiaparelli projects this morning and S3 were looking at the work of Van Gogh. As a class we researched, discussed and analysed his famous painting 'Self Portrait with Bandaged Ear':

Turning points
S3 are working in essays for our turning points display. They are examining the impact of the coming of the railways and explaining how it was both a beginning and an end!

S4 & S3 art
S4 art students were working on their Elsa Schiaparelli fashion design projects today. She was quite surreal and some of her designs are very interesting:

Last week in English, Samantha emailed us the following link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-13626104
We discussed how safe our email accounts are and if anyone would actually want to hack into our accounts. We also considered if we should exercise more caution regarding what we wrote in our emails.
This week, James asked us to read this story: http://news.sky.com/home/world-news/article/16071849 and we had a very interesting discussion about whether we are interfering in other countries' affairs or helping them. James also posed the question: should we continue bombing Libyia if so many civilians are being killed and wounded?
As part of our discussion we talked about other countries we had invaded or supported in the past. By looking at history, we asked ourselves what lessons we could learn and whether that affected our opinion of what Britain should do today.

Historical drama!
S3 are giving their speeches to the provisional committee set ip to watch over the interests of the towns of Liverpool and Manchester and their neighbourhoods, relative to the proposed railway.
We borrowed costumes from the drama department...

Today we've hears from shopkeepers, factory owners, farmers, canal workers and a hunting enthusiast! The mayor (aka Miss Rukin) announced the decision: to go ahead with the railway between Liverpool and Manchester. When the decision was announced, tempers flared in the committee!

S3 art
S3 artists were working hard today. We began by discussing and analysing a range of paintings by Van Gogh. Then it was back to the practical work.
