Cat painting

S3 artists were doing some critical studies exam practice today in art. We looked at an example paper and went over some questions before pupils tried to answer one on their own.

S5

Robyn, Ailie and Lamorna were all doing some written work today, for Computing, Chemistry and Art:




And Zander was working on his American themed hat:




The news at ten...1945!





S3 are using higher order thinking skills - synthesis and creativity- to bring together and deepen their learning from the past few weeks.

They are writing radio reports for 1945 Britain, called 'rebuild Britain.' they have listened to journalists such as Richard Dimbleby, to give them a feel for broadcasting styles at the time.

BC Drama

Today in BC drama we were reading over and walking through an improvised / devised play that has been written by the class over the last few weeks. It is called 'Dilemmas' and tells the story of a teenage girl who faces a lot of different dilemmas in different areas of her life.

Final Piece!

Zander in S5 completed the final piece for his expressive folio today. He has used acrylic paint and oil pastels to create it - well done!




S3 design

S3 artists have all been working on their design projects this week. Nico was using PVA, paint and tissue paper to create a tomatoey texture for his Italian pizza base...




Ben had designed and cut out some stylised stars, inspired by the Singapore flag, and was using the glue gun to attach them to a t-shirt:




And Euan was stencilling some tyre track prints for his cycling themed project:

Lamorna was busy working on her 'splash' hat again today, painting it in a coloured acrylic/PVA mix to give a sea feel:

Third year working hard

S3 historians are working very well, improving their source analysis skills as they find out about homes in the towns and countryside of 1930s Britain.






They are joined by S3 computing this morning as Mr Speirs is in Lusaka, Zambia, speaking to the American Diplomatic School about our iPad programme. The group are working on HTML coding.

Great start back!

We had a successful start back to art in the senior school today. Jennifer completed this painted camping landscape:




And Lamorna was modelling her water droplet hat using PVA, cling film, acetate and double sided tape- it is starting to look good!
