Interview skills with RAF Sergeant Tait

Sergeant Tait visited the school again today to spend time speaking to S4-6 about interview skills. The group will complete mock application forms and then have mock interviews with Sergeant Tait after the exams With an increasingly competitive jobs market this kind of experience is vital for our young people and we are very grateful to Sergeant Tait for his time and efforts.

Landmarks of appeasement

S4 have been examining the events that led to World War II. They have tracked the decisions made by European leaders in their efforts to avoid war, and made judgements on how war might have been avoided.

They are demonstrating their learning by imagining what the leaders of European nations might have tweeted after significant events, such as the Anglo-German Naval Agreement, the Abyssinian Crisis, the Anschluss, the Sudetenland crisis, the Munich agreement and the invasion of Poland.

S3 debaters

S3 historians have been honing their discussion and debate skills. The class have identified key skills and attributes that make debate and discussion successful:

They are now practising these in our debate on conflict. Here are some of the issues/questions that have arisen today:

Is conflict always negative?
Can you be unaware that you're involved in a conflict?
Is it possible to abandon conflict with no resolution?
Can both sides win?
Can we experience conflict within ourselves?
Is there always a physical element to conflict?
Can war achieve good things?
