Melissa emailed us this story to read: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-14761423
She asked us if we thought that vending machines should be banned from hospitals. Nearly everyone thought that they shouldn't, and Nico made the valid point that people have a choice and they don't need to buy food from them.
We also discussed if vending machines should be replaced and, if so, with what. Nicol suggested that instead of getting rid of vending machines, the usual crisps, chocolate and fizzy drinks could be replaced with healthier alternatives, such as sandwiches.
By discussing their opinions regarding issues raised in a news story, the class are developing their critical thinking skills, which are vital in making good progress in English!
